You guys, it’s been a while! We got a new addition to the family, Her name is Delilah and she is a dream! Sometimes I can’t believe I have a little girl. I always thought I would just be a boy mom, but here she is. She was born on September 11th weighing 7 lbs 14 oz. She took on to breastfeeding really well like Donovan and although they sort of look alike, they are so different in many ways. From the way they cry to their expressions and sleeping routine.
This time around I didn’t even realize I was in labor, I was kind of confused if I was even in labor to begin with since my water broke with Donovan, I had no clue what to expect with the starting of contractions. It was late at night maybe around 3 a.m. and I had the urge to use the bathroom, It was kind of like (do i have to use the bathroom or is this just gas pains?). I kept tossing and turning in bed because it just felt like I was having really bad cramps or gas but every time I went to the bathroom nothing came out. I started realizing it was game time when I kept feeling the pain come every 5 minutes. Also the pain was in the same area, so i figured if it was really gas pains it would of moved around by now. So I woke Thomas up and told him I thought I was in labor and of course he asked me if I was sure. I got ready and went to the hospital, by the time they checked me I was 3 cm already. She arrived at 12:05 p.m.
Having a little girl is a completely different feeling from having a boy. I’m still getting use to the cute outfits and tons of options available for little girls, like you can seriously go bankrupt buying things! I had to control myself. Right now I’m just buying as I see and love. I don’t want to make the same mistake I did with Donovan buying a bunch of clothing that he never got the chance to wear.
I’m just taking it all in one day at a time. She is my last baby and I want to absorb her innocent sweetness as long as I can, because they really do grow so quickly. I will also do a monthly update on her like I did for Donovan here. I just loved seeing the progress on his growth and also it’s like having a wonderful journal of them as they grow to be one years old. It really helped keep the memories since I still haven’t finished Donovan’s baby album! Speaking of memory keeping, if you’re in the New York area and need a newborn photographer or even family photos done, I really recommend Michelle Behr. She was amazing with Delilah and our family photos! What are some fun ways you like to document your baby’s first year?
